Lipstick Angels Featured in Innovators at the Intersection: Where Beauty Meets Healing

Lipstick Angels is honored to be featured in the May/June 2026 issue of Innovators at the Intersection magazine in the article “Where Beauty Meets Healing.”

The feature shines a beautiful light on the mission behind Lipstick Angels: bringing compassionate, oncology-sensitive beauty and wellness services to people undergoing cancer treatment — at no cost to patients.

Founded by Renata Helfman-Baron, Lipstick Angels began from a deeply personal place. As a professional makeup artist, Renata saw firsthand the emotional impact beauty and self-care had on her grandmother during cancer treatment. A fresh coat of lipstick before and after appointments became more than makeup — it became a small but powerful way to restore confidence, comfort, and spirit during an incredibly difficult time.

Inspired by that experience, Renata began volunteering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, offering makeup application, eyebrow fill-ins, hand massages, and moments of care to patients receiving treatment. What began as a simple act of service quickly grew into a national nonprofit dedicated to helping people feel pampered, empowered, and seen during cancer care.

Today, Lipstick Angels provides customized, clean beauty, skincare, and wellness services for women and men affected by cancer. Services include facials, makeup applications, hand massages, aromatherapy, eyebrow tutorials, and virtual appointments for those who do not have a program nearby.

As the article highlights, Lipstick Angels’ work is built on more than beauty. Every service is delivered by oncology-trained professional makeup artists and estheticians who follow rigorous protocols to ensure patient safety, trust, and emotional support. The organization has also worked with medical experts to create safe, effective programs and uses clean, nontoxic beauty products designed with the needs of patients in mind.

Since its founding in 2012, Lipstick Angels has served more than 75,000 individuals and continues to expand its reach in hospitals and infusion centers across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and underserved communities in New York City.

We are grateful to Innovators at the Intersection for recognizing the heart of our work and helping share the story of how beauty, wellness, and human connection can bring light into some of life’s most difficult moments.

As Renata shared in the article, “Everyone should have access to this kind of personal care.”
