Lipstick Angels utilizes nurturing beauty services and physical touch to restore, strengthen and protect the dignity, hope and self-respect of seriously ill patients undergoing debilitating treatments such as chemotherapy. Specifically, we provide complimentary, personalized one-on-one beauty and skin care services by professional makeup artists and estheticians at the patient’s bedside or while they are receiving chemotherapy infusions when they are at their most vulnerable.
Lipstick Angels’ beauty kits were developed with Founder Renata Helfman and the Cedars-Sinai’s Volunteer Department and the Epidemiology Department. The kits had to meet stringent requirements to ensure patient safety and all of the materials used in the beauty kits adhere to the standards set by the Epidemiology Department. Lipstick Angels only uses natural and/or organic beauty products in an effort to reduce patients’ exposure to potentially dangerous chemicals.

Before providing services to patients, all Lipstick Angels receive one-on-one training with Program Managers and other experienced Angels and are provided a program handbook before they have their “solo flight”.

All Angels are required to use our hospital beauty kits that were created with the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Epidemiology departments for use on clients with compromised skin. All products are safe for use on patients experiencing the side effects of treatments like chemotherapy.
The Lipstick Angel training sessions focus on:
  • Working with clean beauty products and skin care for the services
  • Using disposable tools and applicators to ensure proper hygiene for patients with sensitive immune systems
  • Respecting HIPAA and patient privacy when working in a hospital environment
  • Techniques for Oncology Esthetics and how to provide spa services to patients with compromised skin in line with standards outlined through Oncology Spa Solutions.
